Why mission?
Jesus says: Go and tell!
Because Jesus says so. That is the simple answer. In the gospel of Matthew chapter 28 verses 18b-20 Jesus says to his disciples:
»All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.«
Because we cannot help it. As Christians we live together with Jesus, and that gives life a whole new perspective. Being able to pray to Jesus and experience that he listens and answers. The hope of an eternal life. The fellowship with other Christians.
We simply must share that with others. This is mission in a nutshell.
Because salvation is only in Jesus. Only in Jesus is salvation from judgement and perishing. Therefore it is crucial that the gospel about him is communicated to other people so that more will be saved from sin and the power of the Devil.
